First, the ice making machine takes in the low-pressure refrigerant vapors and compresses them to drive them through the refrigeration cycle
The now high-pressure vapors, pass through a muffler designed to reduce sound and a non-return valve to prevent reverse flow in the system
The cooling pathway produces ice in the evaporator in five steps.
High pressure vapor is converted into high-pressure liquid refrigerant in the condenser
The refrigerant vapor and liquid phase refrigerant is sent to a receiver where the gas and liquid refrigerant is held
The liquid refrigerant flows through a heat exchanger to cool down even further and passes through an inline filtration system to remove contaminants
A thermal expansion valve converts the refrigerant into a low-pressure gas which flows to the evaporator
In the evaporator, the depressurized gas absorbs heat from the stainless-steel tubes while water is sprayed onto the tubes to freezes over time to the desired ice thickness
The heating pathway warms the evaporator tubes to detach the ice at the desired thickness.
Pressurized hot gas travels through a solenoid valve and heating coil to the evaporator
In the evaporator, the hot gas separates the ice that was formed on the stainless-steel tubes and ice drops onto an ice auger, allowing for a new batch of ice to form again
After moving through the cooling or heating pathways the vapor returns to the compressor though an inline filtration system that removes suction and moisture where the refrigeration cycle starts all over again
